Top Waterproof Mascaras

My Top Waterproof Mascaras

Waterproof mascara is a must-have in summer makeup kits, especially for weddings, beach days, and long outdoor events. But as I recently shared with Marie Claire, there are a few things to know before making one your everyday go-to.

What to Know About Waterproof Mascara

Waterproof formulas come with major benefits. Their biggest strength is staying power: they’re built to last through heat, humidity, and even tears. One key bonus: they hold a curl really well, which is ideal for straight or stubborn lashes. If your lashes tend to fall flat, waterproof can help lift and lock them in place for hours.

That said, I don’t always recommend them for daily wear. Waterproof mascara is designed to resist water, so it can be tougher to remove. That extra effort can lead to unnecessary tugging if you’re not gentle, which may stress out your lashes over time.

Tip: Always remove with a dedicated eye makeup remover or cleansing balm, and be patient. Your lashes will thank you.

My Top Waterproof Mascara Picks

Here are three I reach for when I need performance, volume, and wear that won’t budge:

1. Yves Saint Laurent Lash Clash Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara

This delivers bold, dramatic volume and keeps lashes lifted all day. The waterproof formula enhances hold and definition while feeling surprisingly flexible on the lashes.

2. L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

A true drugstore gem. It adds soft, feathery volume and length, and it’s a great option for long wear on a budget. Perfect for day-to-night summer plans.

3. Caliray Come Hell or High Water Volumizing Tubing Mascara

Unlike traditional waterproof formulas, this is a tubing mascara: it wraps around each lash and stays put without smudging. Plus, it removes easily with warm water, making it a great pick for sensitive eyes or daily wear.

Final Thought

Waterproof mascara is a fantastic tool when used with intention. Reach for it when you need long wear, lash lift, or a smudge-proof finish; and always remove it gently to protect your natural lashes.

Caitlyn
