The Best Lightweight Foundation
When it comes to makeup, I am constantly seeking inspiration. Lately, I've been very inspired by Charlotte Tilbury. The makeup looks she creates are so glamorous, yet not over-the-top. From perfectly blended eyeshadow and smoked out liner to glossy cheeks and lips, all of her looks are so flawless.
While I was recently on a trip to London, I spent some time at the Charlotte Tilbury makeup counter inside of Selfridges. Everything about the experience was a 10 out of 10. Friendly staff, energetic music, and of course, the beautiful array of products. I wanted all of it! I limited myself to a foundation and a few lip products, and today, I'm here to tell you about what is in my opinion, the best lightweight foundation.
Personally, I'm more of a lightweight/light coverage foundation gal rather than full coverage. I like my skin to show through if I want, with the option to add another layer or two for fuller coverage. For a couple of years now, the Your Skin But Better CC Cream by IT Cosmetics has been my favorite. However, things have changed. Light Wonder by Charlotte Tilbury is everything I've dreamed of in a foundation and more.
What I like about Light Wonder:
The coverage. Although it is lightweight, it still delivers perfect coverage. You can start by applying just a bit, and build it up if you desire extra coverage.
The formula. As mentioned above, the product feels lightweight on your skin. You cannot tell that you're wearing foundation (in other words, you cannot feel it on your skin). I don't know about you, but I don't like feeling makeup on my skin! Makes me crazy.
The wear. Do you know how sometimes certain foundations don't sit well on your skin? They get weird on or around your nose, or crease near your smile lines? Light Wonder doesn't do that. It actually works to minimize your pores, decrease wrinkles, hydrate, smooth, and illuminate your complexion.
My shade. I'm in shade number 7 (Medium) which is a neutral caramel shade for medium to tan skin tones with warm golden/olive undertones. If I have a tan, I just add a drop or two of my BECCA Shimmering Liquid Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in shade Topaz to make the foundation a bit deeper.
The packaging. I personally don't care for products that come in glass bottles, because I travel a lot and my makeup can get tossed around and broken quite easily. So I appreciate that this comes in a plastic, yet high-quality bottle.
What I don't like about Light Wonder:
The shade range. It's 2019, and every brand should have shades for any and every skin tone. The Light Wonder range only has 10 shades. That is simply not enough to cover different skin tones from extremely light to extremely dark.
How I apply Light Wonder:
Just like most foundations, I like to apply Light Wonder using a Beauty Blender. I first apply a small amount of the foundation to the back of my hand, dab it onto my face using my fingers, then blend it into my skin using the Beauty Blender. It blends in seamlessly, due to the amazing formulation (at least with the Beauty Blender - I don't think I've tried it with a brush)!
