Wedding Day Makeup vs. Preview Day Makeup for Madeline

Wedding Day Makeup vs Preview Day for Madeline

When it comes to bridal makeup, there are always little tweaks that happen between the preview session and the actual wedding day. Today, I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the subtle - but impactful - changes we made to Madeline's makeup from her preview day to her wedding day.

1. LIGHTING

Let’s start with one of the most noticeable differences - the lighting. Madeline’s bridal preview took place at my studio in early April on a not-so-bright day. On her wedding day in June, we had the most gorgeous, sunny weather and got ready in a room with beautiful natural light. When I snapped her photos, we were standing right in front of that natural light - plus I added a handheld light for a little extra glow.

2. BROWS

Not a huge change here, but I filled in Madeline's brows just a little less on her wedding day and gave them a slightly different shape. This wasn’t something she specifically asked for - I just felt a softer brow suited her fresh wedding day look perfectly.

3. HAIR COLOR

It’s really common for brides to refresh their hair color before the big day, and I’m pretty sure Madeline went a touch lighter and brighter before her wedding. It gave her whole look an extra fresh and radiant vibe.

4. LIP COLOR

This was hands-down the biggest switch between the two days. During her preview, we went with a rose-toned lip combo. But on her wedding day, we both felt that a soft baby pink lip would be absolutely perfect - and it was.

5. FOUNDATION

Since her wedding day was pretty hot and humid (hello, southern summers!), I customized a slightly different foundation mix for her to help it last and stay flawless in the heat. It matched her skin beautifully, which brings me to the final change...

6. SPRAY TAN

If you’ve followed along with any of my other bridal recaps, you know that many of my brides love a good spray tan for their wedding. Madeline's tan wasn’t dramatically different from her preview, but it gave her the perfect sun-kissed glow - bronzy and radiant without being over the top.
