Wedding Day Makeup vs. Preview Day Makeup for Amy

When it comes to bridal makeup, one of the most common questions I get is — “Will my makeup look exactly the same on the wedding day as it did at my trial?” And the answer is: not always — and that’s okay.

Today I’m walking you through another wedding day vs. preview day makeup look, this time featuring my gorgeous bride, Amy. Here’s a breakdown of the subtle but important differences between her bridal preview and her final wedding day look — and why each adjustment was intentional.

1 // Lighting

Lighting changes everything. Amy’s preview appointment took place in my studio, while her wedding morning was in a hotel room. For her wedding photos, I had her stand in front of a window to get natural light — and that alone can shift how the makeup looks on camera.

2 // Hair

It’s super common for a bride to refresh her color or change up her style between preview and wedding day — and Amy did both. The added warmth and dimension in her wedding day hair complemented her bridal look beautifully.

3 // Brows

We kept her brows mostly the same, but I went slightly lighter on the wedding day for a softer effect. That said, even this small change can look more dramatic depending on the lighting and photography.

4 // Eyes

For her wedding day, we opted for a lighter, brighter eye look, which felt fresh, ethereal, and truly bridal. It opened up her eyes and gave a soft, angelic effect that was perfect for the occasion.

5 // Skin Finish

Amy wanted to look more glowy on her wedding day, and I was 100% on board. I adjusted the foundation formula and amount, and switched up the powders and highlighters to give her that lit-from-within finish — without compromising longevity.

Every bride deserves to feel like the best version of herself on her wedding day — and that sometimes means adjusting the look from what we originally created during the preview. Amy’s final look was a perfect reflection of her style, her features, and the vision she had for the day. You can see a full list of products I used here.
