How to Prevent Dry, Chapped Lips
Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are officially in 2020. Insane! I don't know about you, but I am WIPED out after this past week of holiday madness. Between all of the food, cookies, booze, and family time, I have worn myself down and am currently fighting a cold. My boyfriend and I stayed in last night and I didn't even keep my eyes open until midnight - ha!
Anyways, it's that time of the years where my lips always tend to get nasty AF. Ya know, dry and chapped. And who wants that? Probably no one. The best thing to do, instead of dealing with dry, chapped lips, is to prevent them from getting that way in the first place. Here are my top tips:
Drink tons of water. I am actually terrible at doing this but making it a priority in 2020. Or, at least saying I'm going to, haha. Really though, this is my top tip. So many times, our lips get gross because we're dehydrated. Whip out your water bottle, fill it up, guzzle it, and then go ahead and do that seven more times throughout the day.
Use a lip scrub. You can use anything you want, even make your own, but I love the Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant. Its raw sugar granules micro-exfoliate and buff away dead skin, and the nourishing maracuja and shea butter help hydrate, firm and protect lips from future drying, cracking, and chapping.
Use this lip mask. I'm telling you, this lip mask by Laneige is a game-changer. I actually use it 24/7, even though its title says "Lip Sleeping Mask." It has a super thick formula, sort of like a soft gel balm, and makes your lips feel soft and juicy. My favorite is the original flavor (the pink one), but it also comes in Vanilla and Apple Lime.
Use this lip balm. I picked this up from Sephora about a year ago, and have been repurchasing ever since. The Farmacy Honey Butter Beeswax Lip Balm is a 100% natural lip balm and primer in one that helps to moisturize, condition, and prep lips with honey, beeswax, and cupuaçu butter. I apply it multiple times a day, especially when I feel like my lips are getting a bit dry.
