Why I Love Microneedling
If you’re new here, welcome! If you’ve been following my blog, you probably know that I recently posted a video about my current skincare routine. I wanted to take it one step further today and tell you why I love microneedling.
I haven’t always had the best skin. It’s still not perfect, but it’s a HECK of a lot better than it used to be, even a couple years ago. I do sometimes get blemishes, and when I do, they often result in scars and discoloration. That’s why I asked for the GloPRO Microneedling Regeneration Tool for Christmas, and am so happy that I did.
At first, I wasn’t sure what would happen. I had read some blog posts on the tool and seen photos on Instagram, but would this GloPRO really make that much of a difference with my skin? YUP! I was so pleasantly surprised just from one or two times using it! The results are almost instant. Obviously the more you use the tool, the better and longer lasting your results will be.
What Exactly Is It?
Microneedling, or derma-rolling, gently damage your skin (in a good way!) with teeny, tiny needles (only .3mm in length). It triggers your skin’s natural healing process and creates collagen. The needles are so little that you truly don’t feel any pain, but you do feel a tingle (it’s hard to explain unless you’ve done it and know what I’m talking about). The whole point of this is so that your face products can actually reach deep into your skin, rather than simply sit on top of your skin. Makes sense, right? This process boosts product/ingredient absorption up to 90% – so crazy! I mentioned how I have some acne scars and discoloration – I noticed that microneedling has helped with both of those things tremendously.
How Do I Use It?
First, I wash my face and make sure it’s extra clean. Again, check out my current skincare routine to literally see what I do! Once I have removed makeup with a wipe, cleansed my skin, and removed any remaining traces of makeup, oil, dirt, etc. with micellar water or toner, I’m ready to use the GloPRO.
I gently roll the toll in four different quadrants: left cheek, right cheek, left forehead, and right forehead for about 15 seconds each. I roll in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal motions. You can definitely do more than 15 seconds each, it’s really up to you. Your face will be red right after you do all of the rollings.
Once you’re done, grab your spray bottle (which the tool comes with – you just need to fill it with rubbing alcohol), and spray the needles. Make sure it’s dry, then place it back in its plastic case between uses.
Immediately apply your favorite face products (serum, moisturizer, eye cream, etc.) within one minute of using the GloPRO. I like to microneedle at least 3 times per week. It is safe to use every night if you prefer (I just forget sometimes or am traveling and don’t bring it with me).
The GloPRO isn’t necessarily cheap. It’s $200 but is currently on sale for 25% off with the code BRIGHT25 (this isn’t a promoted post, I just saw it and wanted to share with you)! It’s worth it because you will see almost immediate, and significant results in your skin. The difference between the GloPRO and other, maybe cheaper, microneedle tools is that it also has a red LED light, paired with a vibrotactile stimulation feature, which works to regenerate your skin cells. Cells that are exposed to LED light grow 150 to 200 percent faster than unstimulated cells.
Have you ever microneedled before, either at a salon or at home? Let me know in the comments!
