What to Wear to Thanksgiving
I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe Thanksgiving in this Thursday! That’s only two days away. I can’t wrap my head around how fast this year has flown by. I say that every year, but it’s true. The years just keep going by faster and it freaks me out. I wish I could hit a pause button!
My family always keeps things pretty casual for Thanksgiving. This year, we are going to my Grandpa and Nonni’s house on my dad’s side of the family, then my aunt’s house on my mom’s side. Every year we always have back-to-back meals, but I am not one to complain. I love me some mashed potatoes.
This year I packed a flannel shirt, off-white sweater vest, white jeans, brown riding boots, and a pearl necklace to wear on the day of giving thanks. I haven’t had time to take fashion photos lately (#excuses), so for today’s post, I rounded up some looks from some of my favorite fashion bloggers. I hope these outfits give you inspiration!
Sweater + Faux Leather Leggings
One of my favorite bloggers, Brighton Keller of Brighton The Day, did a recent post on an all-black Thanksgiving outfit, featuring a chunky black sweater and black faux leather leggings. She also completed the ensemble with black leather booties and a black leather bag. #allblackeverything for the win. It looks so comfy and so chic.
Turtleneck + Scarf + Skirt
Katey McFarlan of Chronicles of Frivolity is #goals. She always looks so effortlessly chic and always classy. Even though this skirt is technically considered “mini,” it still looks tasteful. Paired with a white turtleneck, checkered blanket scarf, black OTK boots, and a black bag, I think this look is perfect for Thanksgiving.
Bell Sleeves + Midi Skirt
The combination of flowy bell sleeves and a midi skirt is so feminine. This is an outfit that I opt for quite frequently. Throw on a pair of heels or flats, grab a clutch, add some jewelry, and you’re good to go. I love the shade of lavender/gray in this skirt that Dede Raad of Dress Up Buttercup is rocking in this post.
Sweater Dress + OTK Boots
This outfit is such a classic and something that I rock all the time. Is there anything more comfortable than a sweater dress? The answer is no. When you add over the knee boots with a sweater dress, it makes everything look a bit sexier and put together. I love this casual sweater dress that Emily Gemma of The Sweetest Thing is wearing with her black OTK boots and super cute black hat.
Button-Down + Jeans
Don’t feel like wearing a dress or skirt? That’s okay – jeans are great, too! I love the look of a classic yet comfortable button-down shirt with jeans. If you want the shirt to look more fitted, simply tuck it into your jeans and add a belt. Ashley Robertson of The Teacher Diva pulls this look of perfectly.
Sweater + Fur Vest + White Jeans
Let me let you in on a little secret of mine: I wear white jeans all year round. That whole, “no white after Labor Day/before Memorial Day” rule? Yeah, it’s bogus. Anyone with a sense of style does not adhere to it. As I mentioned above, I actually plan on wearing white jeans on Thanksgiving Day. Here’s a look at Alyson Haley of Sequins & Things that shows how you can pull off white jeans in the fall/winter. I love the look of the caramel colored sweater, off-white fur vest, white jeans, and beige crossbody bag.
