If you’re a makeup product junkie like I am, chances are you’ve heard of Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte. It launched just about a year ago, and for some reason, I actually didn’t purchase it until about two months ago! I watch a lot of YouTube videos and basically all of the beauty gurus swear by it. So I had to know for myself – is it really worth the hype? Let’s find out.
First, here are a few things to know about the product, if these things matter to you:
Concealer: cruelty-free, PETA-certified, and vegan
Shades: 14 different shades
Where to Purchase: Ulta (store or online) or Tarte (online)
Claims: long-wearing, hydrating, natural coverage
The product can be used as a concealer and a contour/highlight – it just depends which shade(s) you purchase! I personally purchased the shade “Medium” and use it as a concealer (not a contouring product).
Now, let me tell you a little bit about my skin. I have very oily skin, so products that are too thick in consistency tend to crease – especially under the eyes. I knew that Shape Tape is on the thicker side, so I was curious to see how it would sit on my skin.
I was very pleasantly surprised to realize that the product sits very well on my skin. It does not crease or flake or look weird at all. The claims for being long-wearing and hydrating are true indeed. I would also say that the natural coverage claim is true, although that of course depends on the amount of product you apply. I wouldn’t say that it’s light coverage, but more medium to full.
The Shape Tape covers blemishes, dark spots, and under eye bags very easily. It is also very easy to blend out. I personally use a small, tapered, fluffy brush to blend mine out. The finish is matte, which is what I always want in a concealer. Even though some people might not need to use a powder to set this, I do just to be safe (again, I’m an oil slick).
What’s your go-to concealer?
